For the last two weeks (if not longer), Kelly’s been jumping into our bed early in the morning, asking “is it Christmas yet?” No, I have to tell her, not yet… But thanks to Mental Floss, I found something that may keep her at bay: Norad’s 2007 Santa Tracker. If you’re anxious about Santa’s route, you can call or email Norad at special numbers they’ve made available on the site. And you can even access video of Santa on his trip, such when he buzzed the Great Wall of China before he headed north to Mongolia and Russia.
NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) usually uses its radar capabilities for defense. But at least since the 1950s or 60s, they’ve been tracking Santa as a public service, because everyone knows no-one would let a missile fly while Santa’s on his rounds.
